My Craft Space

I shared some sneak peeks last year of my work space, but since then we have had a desk tragedy due to a shelf calamity, and I have changed it all around about a million times.

I share our back bedroom, which we call The Den, with Him Indoors. We sit back to back, so we can watch movies through the projector on the far blank wall whilst we work.

I’m only showing you my side…because well…his side is boring…and boylike…

I’ll warn you now…this isn’t a craft room off of Pinterest…this is a working, messy craft space that works for me…complete with pooch and clutter.

You may notice that I have a RUBBISH foldy office chair, whilst P has a majestic swinging leather number…. It is on my list to upgrade and treat myself. I think it may be a while coming because I want the PERFECT one. I love my Ikea desk, because the lower table bit slides in and out, meaning that when not in use, I can put it away so I don’t load it up with crap. Under my desk is a wooden wine box that I use on my stalls as well as my sewing machine and my stuffing boxes full of toy stuffing and fabric scraps.

This area is to the left of my desk. The suitcases store some of my stock and were free from Grandpa Pigeon’s Open All Hours and the wicker cat basket/paper holder was a street find. This little bookcase holds ALL my fabric and papercraft stuff. As you can see those baskets are slightly full!

A close up of my desk. The little wicker basket was 50p from a charity shop and holds what I am immediately working on. That can then go with me all over the house, so I can work wherever we are.

I love the blue shopping baskets. I found them at a car boot for £1 for 3…I nearly ripped the guys arm off who was selling them! The bottom one holds all my felt, and the top one is all fabric scraps that could be used for small projects. I honestly don’t throw ANY fabric away…

Two thirds of my cubby holes. the top one (out of shot) holds boxes full of stock like my keyrings and pincushions. The middle cubby is for my wool, out of doggy reach…and the bottom is for my day to day needs like tape measures, keyring loops, pencils, weighing scales, magnets etc…

The third basket is used as a dumping ground so mess doesn’t spread. Once a month I empty this out and file things that need filing and tidy stuff that needs tidying. Please excuse my Budweiser mouse mat…it was the only one him indoors has…does anyone know where I can get a nice mousepad from? I store the keyboard and mouse away down the side of the baskets when I am crafting and don’t need them.

So…it isn’t all that pretty…but it’s functional…and that is what I need!

I would love to see your workspaces! Please link any tours you have done in my comments! 😀

  1. craft space envy!!! I dont currently have a proper space but cant wait until I do! Those baskets, cubby holes etc just make everything so much easier. I think it must really help with inspiration and creativity too! z

    • I love a good basket/box/cubby! I love everything everything on show because I forget what I have otherwise! I am hoping to whittle down some of my fabric stash so I can raid the carboots this summer to get more appropriate fabric for my makes!

  2. I have the same desk!

  3. Some really practical storage ideas there! I love seeing people’s creative spaces x

  4. Perhaps we could organise a fabric swap? I’ve got way too much, some of which was inherited- and whilst it’s pretty, it’s just not “me”. xxx

  5. Wow you are WELL ORGANISED! I too can’t throw fabric away but this is clearly obvious as my craft stations always look like a bomb’s exploded in a haberdashery!

Got something to say? Don't be shy, I love comments!
